East Petersburg Community Park

I was looking for somewhere to go walking this morning, and after a quick glance through Lancaster ON THE MOVE! I decided to try East Petersburg Community Park.  This guide says it has 2 3/4 miles of trails.

I parked at a lot at the end of Pine Street, by the cemetary and water tower, where I found a path.  This path had a number of side paths that split off to playground areas, the tennis courts, cul-de-sacs, and other roads.  Before too long I had gone down and back all of them…and ended back at the parking lot.  My pedometer said I had done 1.24 miles.  I walked around more, and couldn’t find any more paths, so I’m not sure where the 2 3/4 miles came from.  There are no published maps of the park; perhaps I can see something from aerial photography.  So far the paths here are nothing more than short dead-ended spurs that don’t loop around, and, in fact, mostly pass through developed areas.  I suppose it’s possible there’s another parking lot somewhere with access to more paths.
